A few more from Christmas Day

Christmas Day

This year was awesome! It was the first year that even one of our kids (obviously Cherish) understood what was happening for Christmas. We put them down to bed at 7 knowing they wouldn't go to sleep right away :) Damon was out around 8. But sweet little Cherry- oh she was funny. I kept catching her in her window watching for santa. It was adorable. she was too excited to sleep. It took until almost 11pm before I finally found her sleeping in her bed.
Thanks to Damons surgery 2 days before, He was in bed with me and daddy braved the couch. When I heard Cherry awake I looked out my door to watch her reaction to th egifts under the tree. She stood there at the end of the hall and I hear "Oooh!" but then she saw daddy snoring on the couch and I heard.. "awe man". and she went back into her room. Too funny! So I went and got herr and let her get in her stalking. I finally woke Damon up who was knocked out on Lortab- so if he looks drunk in these- he pretty much was!
I am very grateful this Christmas for all our family and friends who helped make Christmas special for us. We were given more than we ever would have thought. And we gave more than we thought we could or should. The kids even went through their old toys with me before Christmas and we picked out one's to give to needy children. I hope this become a yearly tradition! I want my kdis to grow up with the true spirit of Christmas in their hearts.

Temple Square

We haven't had the chance to do a whole lot of festive things this year for Christmas. Which makes me sad. Christmas is my favorite holiday! My niece's choir was performaning at temple square so I decided to brave the elements and take the kids. And by "brave the elements" I don't mean the weather. i mean me- 8 months pregnant, alone, with bnoth kids. :) Lucky for me though, family was there too! And a good thing! Damon is such a 2 yr old! ha ha ha I really loved listening to the 2 choirs perform. it really made me miss singing though :( I just have no opporutnities where we live and it makes me sad.

Kesia and me- always a dork for pictures! JK Kes!
My cute lil chubby cheeks- I think Damon will always be my baby. Even after Lillie gets here. And Damon- FYI- is having surgery on Tuesday. That right. 2 days before Christmas. He's having his tubes redone. and also the sinus passages to the side of his nose are going to be opened up. I am praying he has a speedy recovery and can somewhat enjoy what Santa brings him!
This is my favorite spot on temple square. I love this assembly hall and the thousands of lights on the trees surrounding it. So beautiful!

Ta Da!!!!

Finally! It has taken tons of practice, and tons of practice sessions, and tons of tears (on Cherry's part) but I finally managed to get her hair all up and have it look super cute!!! most times I try to do her short layered hair up i end up taking it down and just have her wear her hair down :) But today I was happy!!! So I had to take a picture! (of course)

Best Sugar Cookies EVER! Seriously! So Soft!!!

Super Soft Sugar Cookies
preheat oven to 300 degrees (yes 300- cooking them low is the key!)
makes about 3 dozen small cookies

NEED:
1 cup butter- softened
1 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 cup flour

toppings:
sugar crystals, frosting, crushed candy cane, baby m&m's or whatever you want!

- beat butter in large bowl w/ electric mixer on Med to High speed for 30 seconds. Add sugar, baking poser and salt. Beat until well combined- scrapping sides of bowl occassionally.
- beat in egg and vanilla until combined. beat in as much flour as you can with mixer. Stir in rest by hand if needed.
(if dough is too soft refrigerate for 30-60 minutes)
s- shape dough into 1 inch balls or use a cookie dough scooper.

roll balls in sugar or top with your treat! My kids and I's favorite is the crushed peppermint candy cane.
-Place on cookie sheet 2 inches apart
- bake 15 minutes or until tops are SLIGHTLY cracked and sides are set(they will not look done) it may also take a bit longer. You do not want brown edges!

transfer immediately to a cooling rack.

Eat and Enjoy!

Merry Christmas!
